Nightcliff Sunday Markets
I'm sitting in Groove cafe (although since Groove is entirely an outdoor concern, maybe I should say I'm sitting out Groove) watching all the market traffic pass me by. There's internet access here obviously, and ice-coffee that's variable but good often enough that it's worth the risk. I went for the hot stuff today though. I'm obviously still not a local, did you know that Territorians apparently drink more ice-coffee than beer?
I have a vague memory of writing a completely drunken post on here on Friday night. I really shoudl check if I did that and if so, what I said. I've been thinking I'd love to have a blog about my work and all my cases and clients - partly to get it off my chest and debreif a bit, and partly cos I think it would be interesting to some. But of course, Darwin's a small place, and there's confidentiality problems and that darn legal ethics stuff. The classic bloggers catch-22 - the blog is only there fore others to read but if they do read it then it shouldn't be there.
That's why I'm keeping my stuff on this forum and not on Livejournal. Too much cross-reading going on over there. I feel like I have more control over who sees my stuff here.
Still I'd love to be able to write about it. We don't have a very good debrief procedure at work - there's an element of bravado there, you have to be 'tough' to do this job. but you have to tell someone what's going on or it will start to consume you.
The media, it seems is consumed with the story of a little girl in Cape York who was gang-raped by 9 boys and men. She was sent back to her community for a funeral. Politcal correctness gone crazy! crows the southern papers. A tragedy sure, but do you ever hear about all the families twon apart bc the government was too quick to take the kids away? No story there. Only about the one's where they weren't quick enough.
I don't have any answers. I'm hardly keeping up with my own small job, I know that there's something very wrong though.
